Broadway Workshop™ NYC- Kentucky Intensive is an ALL NEW is a five-day summer program designed for high school students (ages 13-19) with a strong passion for the performing arts. Each student will study the three disciplines of musical theatre (acting, singing and dancing) in preparation for the end of the program showcase that will feature students performing solo pieces as well as group musical numbers in a professional final showcase. This program will allow students to take a huge leap in their training in a group setting. With just 20 participants, students will receive focused training with opportunity for individual growth while working and performing alongside their peers. In addition to showcase rehearsal students will have dance classes and acting/audition workshops. Broadway Workshop teaching artists are professional performers with multiple Broadway/National Tour credits.
ALL STUDENTS will need TWO/THREE musical theatre song selections for this intensive. Students will need to have sheet music in the correct key and be completely memorized on their musical pieces. Song sections should be cut to 32 bars (under two minutes). These songs will be mixed together to create our final showcase. The opening and closing group musical numbers will be sent to students in advance and allow them to learn music and lyrics in advance of the start of the program. Students will have a virtual welcome and short class with Marc Tumminelli, Director of Broadway Workshop NYC, on June 12, 12:30 PM to better prepare them for the intensive. Professional teaching artists will be Dr. Justin Cowan, David Rosetti, and Devon Hadsell (Mean Girls on Broadway). All classes and the showcase will take place at the Carson Center.
