In conjunction with the NEA Big Read Paducah, The Carson Center will produce and present Fahrenheit 451 - a theatrical staged reading of Ray Bradbury's stage adaptation of his classic work. For the first time, The Carson Center is looking for local and regional residents (high school and older) to perform the first-ever self-produced reading on The Carson Center stage.
The NEA Big Read is a community wide effort to broaden our understanding of our world, our communities, and ourselves through the joy of sharing a good book. Showcasing a diverse range of contemporary titles that reflect many different voices and perspectives, the NEA Big Read aims to promote reading and inspire conversation and discovery.
Auditions will take place at The Carson Center in the Myre River Room on Thursday, February 20, 2020, at 6:30 PM. If you would like to be considered for a role, but cannot attend auditions, please let me know.
To sign up for an audition please follow this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1jiB8J9zx6I-D3mqfWGSH8g1gcZhRKRuvZjxHV5M..., or call Josh Morehead at 270-443-9932.
Since this is a theatrical stage reading, rehearsal time will be kept at a minimum with a majority of rehearsals taking place in March. We will use lighting, sound, and minimal costuming to bring this story to life. You will not be required to memorize your character's lines.
Performances will take place on Sunday, March 29, 2020, with a school matinee on Monday, March 30, 2020.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact Josh Morehead at jmorehead@thecarsoncenter.org, or by phone at 270-443-9932.
