The Carson Center is hosting a Book Discussion September 18 to celebrate the 2017-2018 Myre Series, which begins October 1 with Tuesdays with Morrie, the Play. This play is based on Mitch Albom’s book titled Tuesdays with Morrie – An old man, a young man, and life’s greatest lesson, first published in 1997. This is the 20th anniversary of the publication of the book, which is the best-selling memoir of all-time. The book and movie tell the true story of Mitch Albom, an accomplished journalist, and Morrie Schwartz, his former college professor. Sixteen years after graduation, Mitch sees Morrie on a television news program and learns that his former professor is battling Lou Gehrig's disease. Mitch and Morrie are reunited in the last months of Morrie’s life. What starts as a simple visit turns into a weekly pilgrimage and a last class in the meaning of life. Their discussion topics include regrets, death, family, emotions, fear of aging, how love goes on, marriage, culture, forgiveness, the perfect day, and more.
